Hey everyone! This thread is for talking about magic, spells and things you can use in the world of STC, such as for example, what kind of magic spell your character may use use (slime, snails, puppy dog tails, thunder or lightning...)

Date: 2013-01-13 04:37 am (UTC)Itsuki's elemental types include earth (primary) and light (secondary.)
His spell range would include your basic "earthbending", but also gravity manipulation (increase or lower gravity), yin-yang balance restoration (earth is the 'neutral' element) and some minor defensive earth skills. His light magic leans towards tapping onto the power of his god (Kinashut) and in doing so, his powers include small summons, exorcisms, and blessing (or, by divine wrath, cursing things.)
There's also summoning magical snakes.
Because of the peculiar nature of Kinashut, Itsuki will also have poison skills eventually. They can be literal poison, but also spiritual, such as sapping magic. Snake gods are subjects of duality. His spells may also depend on the recipient's attitude: he can put an enchantment on, say, some of his desserts, which can make them hallowed and bless those he gifts them to, but curse anyone who may steal them.
Another earth-type spell he may learn include the making and animation (via light) of clay golems.
(Remember, don't focus on magic as merely an attack force. Think of how it might affect the character on an every day scenario.)
Non-character specific!

Flight spells. Those are going to be FUN.
We could also have have different wards and barriers, including some that are exclusive to certain elements. For example, applying a water-ward in a building that wouldn't just sap fire magic, but also soothe or calm people who walk in (by reducing their 'fiery' attitude), which could be used as a very effective way to desert assailants.

Date: 2013-01-13 08:54 am (UTC)Spell Range: His spells flow from the control of water; tidal waves and fog, which crash against cliffs to create mud and clay. He can tap into both elements to mimic living beings of roughly identical size and mass - shapeshifting - so he may be empowered by thinking of himself as someone he knows is strong.
And as water has darker depths, his esoteric spells have a focus on deceit, prediction, illusion and control. He hates the spotlight, and will try to alter perception and memory [appearing absent, being forgotten], and modify the mood of those around him [amicable to leaving him alone]. So he will often confuse and disguise himself and try to deceive. These spells may grow and be able to obscure [work for] others.
He regenerates his mana/energy by being targeted - in battle, or by words.

Date: 2013-01-13 09:04 pm (UTC)Despite this, I don't see her as much of a direct attacker, instead affecting her allies' and opponents' capabilities (stoking her allies' flames, so to speak; I'm not sure how to justify debuffs, though, aside from berserk effects; maybe manipulation of air to create miasmas with various effects?). This may extend to some degree of emotional manipulation as well.
Much of her non-combat magic will be aesthetic--fireworks, light shows, etc. I'm a bit short on other ideas. though.

Date: 2013-01-14 12:31 pm (UTC)Spell range:
Akito's spell range includes Shadow control and cloaking; illusion and manipulation; and minor curses. His control over electricity is more basic with shocks on par with his taser at best and, if he gets enough control later, disruptions to the body's electricity (for things like, paralysis or affecting heart rate). Or, he might just static shock you or ruin your hair for lolz.
Probably the most showy things Akito will be able to do is a) create a sentient shadow "double" (think on the lines of Dr. Facilier's shadow) b) shadow pinning and c) be able to force his will onto things. For example, he can tell something to "fall" but it'll be harder with heavier objects and if it's enchanted or has a will of it's own, it'll be much harder. Living beings can also resist him, though success will depend on their will power.

Date: 2013-04-03 11:10 am (UTC)Niko's earth spell range includes bone manipulation (such as making bone weaker or stronger briefly); drawing strength/power ups from the earth as long as he's on it; and minor metalbending. His wind magic includes oxygen control (so he can improve circulation/breathing or hinder it) and sound manipulation.

Date: 2013-04-03 11:20 am (UTC)Aya's spell range includes using burning rays; reflection or absorption of light (potentially includes heat, if the light rays are focused enough); illumination; and small boost resistance to manipulation/illusion spells. For ice, pushing out the heat in an object/person; ice/snow manipulation (custom snowflakes~), and binding.
